Prof. Dr. Ali Sunyaev founded the GI specialist group "Digital Health" in 2019 (https://gi.de/meldung/fachgruppe-digital-health-gegruendet) and was the speaker of the specialist group for several years (https://fb-wi.gi.de/), which produced the article in joint collaboration. In the article, the authors report on the current status, acceptance, and further potential of digital health apps (DIGA), which have been included in standard care since December 19, 2019. As a result, apps can be prescribed as a medical device on prescription and can be reimbursed by statutory health insurers in the same way as medicines.
