Me, in a nutshell

I’m a postdoctoral researcher (Akademischer Rat) and lecturer at the research group Critical Information Infrastructures but also a dedicated father and husband. I work on research challenges concerned with designing, using, and assessing secure and trustworthy information systems. My research accounts for the multifaceted use of information systems and how they transform organizations and shape individuals’ behavior. I particularly focus on information systems and platforms that build on Internet-based and emerging technologies.

Doing Research
  • My research focuses on designing, using, and assessing trustworthy, sociotechnical systems with auspicious value propositions
  • Main areas of work:
    • Achieving and signalling trust
    • Secure usage and design of systems
    • Emerging technologies, like Fog Computing, AI, distributed ledger technology
  • I received the ACM SIGMIS Doctoral Dissertation Award for my doctoral thesis
  • Held a visiting professorship in the winter semester 2023/2024, being a substitute for the chair ‘Information Systems and Systems Development’ (W3) at the University of Kassel
Working on Projects
  • Operational lead of the projects AUDITOR (www.auditor-cert.de) and DIRECTIONS (www.directions-cert.de), developing novel data protection certifications funded by the German ministries
  • Co-investigator for the project “Accountable Artificial Intelligence-based Systems” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG)
Passionate Teaching
  • Fortunate to supervise a team of phd students
  • Teaching bachelor and master lectures and seminars @ KIT and KIT HECTOR School
  • Acquired the university didactics certification from Baden-Wuerttemberg
