From Today’s Satisfaction to Tomorrow’s Support: A Deep Dive into Healthcare’s Digital Transformation Initiatives

  • Background:

    Digital Transformation (DT) is a phenomenon present in many industries. It is generally understood as combinations of information, computing, communication, and connectivity technologies that trigger significant changes within organizations and industries. Despite many promising benefits (e.g., efficiency, higher service quality), organizations still fail to engage in DT properly. One industry where this phenomenon can be observed particularly well is healthcare. Despite progress made throughout COVID-19, the healthcare industry still is largely considered to lag behind in using IT in their care processes. However, it is unclear whether employees are satisfied with recent DT initiatives in their organizations (e.g., hospitals), and whether this influences their perception of future DT initiatives. This is especially relevant because it can yield a more granular understanding of how employees perceive current DT initiatives and help to predict their support for future DT initiatives.

    Objective(s):

    • Create an overview of the main themes in employee satisfaction with DT initiatives
    • Create a construct for employee satisfaction with DT initiatives
    • Create a construct for employee support for future DT initiatives
    • Measure the influence of employee satisfaction with DT initiatives on employee support for future DT initiatives
