The digital transformation of German small and medium sized handicraft businesses is creating IT security challenges. The project Intelligent Security Handwerk as part of the BMWK initiative IT-Sicherheit in der Wirtschaft will address these challenges by sensitizing small and medium size handicraft businesses for IT Security and by enabling independent technical and organizational improvements.

To this end, we will develop and test an intelligent IT Security assistant for German handicraft businesses. The assistant will determine the business's IT infrastructure and IT Security preferences to recommend an individual course of actions. This will enable small and medium sized businesses to make competent and independent IT Security decisions. An interactive application will guarantee an easy and intuitive usage which will be tested and evaluated in multiple lab and field studies.
